Since I've submitted my forms I have wanted to know how it's going to take, on the inis citizenship page there is a note saying there is approximately an average of a 23month turn around time for applications to be processed, but in reality, this is probably the lower bound, I expect turn around time to be around 3yrs on average.
I found some useful documentation, advice and links at www.immigrationboards.com, here are the relevant links to me (I think)

On the www.immigrationboards.com forums, I found that it is possible for me to apply for Long Term Residency, I guess this is not bad. It means I can work without a work permit, assuming it is granted, the process is apparently less painful than naturalisation and is a work around for the long processing times, but I don't qualify till I have a full 60months of stamps on my passport.
