It's 2009-04-29, we have a financial crisis for 2009, a possible pandemic of swine flu, I'm up to my eyes in work. Yet I've managed to apply to apply for Irish naturalisation. The process for me involved being resident in Ireland for 4yrs (before qualifying) and paying taxes into the Irish system. Oh, the form filling too, you need to fill in Form 8 - Application for naturalisation as an Irish citizen, for this you will need recent pay slips, a copy of your P60 tax returns form thing, a bank statement for the last 3-6months, a letter from work saying you are currently employed etc..., a photo copy of your passport, a photocopy of your birth certificate, GNIB card, three willing Irish referees, a witness to countersign your form, and some time to post it via registered post to the relevant parties. A few things to do is to be organised about it, and prepare your referees and witness in advance. Hunt down people to sign things, and be sure to photo copy every single piece of documentation before submitting it!

More to come as it happens, since this is my first time ever at qualifying and applying for Irish citzenship, I'm going to try and blog about it.
