I've been thinking about if I needed to put together a stock pile of things or have some special skills in case if we do go mad max, the things I'd probably want to have stock piled in some shape or form.
- a knife / multi purpose tool like my leatherman and a sharpening stone
- a camping cooking kit
- an axe (one of those small ones with a hook on one end) and a fubar
- body armor, ghillie suits.
- a set of guns and a crossbow
- lots of first aid kits and a supply of penicillin
- led based lamps and flashlights and a big maglite
- go on some hunting and shooting courses
- a food dryer for processing food now to store away
- enough resealable containers for a few weeks of dried food.
- a stock pile of uhf treated milk
- a stock pile of tinned and dried food stuffs
- Ammo. Lots of it
- Fishing equipment. Seriously, why go hunting when it is just easier to go fishing? And you do not waste useful anmo. Speaking about hunting, those seals in Howth seem like they could provide quite an amount of food each.
- Baseball bats - aluminium ones and wooden ones so you can add nails to it .
- A dinghy. You never know when you'll need one for a last resort escape. Plus, you can go fishing on it. And being wind-powered, you won't need to waste precious fuel.
- Katana. No, even better, a sable (that can be sharpened).
- Black ninja suit for night missions.
- Pathogen-proof boots. Enough for several years.
- Various types of seed, types depending on climate.
- Razor wire.
- Catfeet (or whatever they are called) climbing shoes.
- Rope. You'll end up needing it. See "The Boondocks Saints" about the discussion.
- Brass knuckles
- Lots of condoms (They are sterile and therefore useful if you have to perform emergency surgery)
- Lots of books. Survival and surgery manuals, among others.
- Flares.
- Night vision equipment. (Shit, they were selling a night vision monocle this week in ALDI. Should have bought it).
- Sewing kit. (Both for clothes and emergency surgery reasons).
- a manual on how to grow and use bamboo as a construction material.
- a manual on woodwork
- opium, and fuck loads of it. i could become a warlord with the stuff.
- syringes
- a stock pile of vitamins and stuff enough to last a year or so?
- a spade and some plastic sacks and gaffer tape.
- cable ties, the 30cm long ones are the most useful ones.
- a compass and a topographical map of your surrounding.
- a manual on how to set traps for hunting (food and people)
- my german girl friend
Realistically, I'm a nerd, and I don't know the first thing about survival in real life. The above list is a compilation that me and a few of my colleagues compiled after coming across this post http://www.frugalsquirrels.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=044387;p=0#000000
